Treatment for Facial Lines, Brow Lines and Wrinkles

Botox^® is a well known treatment popular with many film and TV personalities to improve the appearance of "worry lines", "frown lines", "crow's feet", forehead wrinkles and other so-called dynamic wrinkles. To inactivate these wrinkles, a solution is injected into local muscles in selected areas of the face, usually around the forehead or eyes, using a very fine needle in a very precise manner. After treatment, the overlying skin becomes smoother and unwrinkled whilst untreated facial muscles contract normally, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.

Though activation of frown lines is a relatively new treatment for dynamic wrinkles, the injections have been safely used for over a decade for neurological and opthamological disorders.

Thousands of Botox^® injections are performed each year for a variety of conditions ranging from strabismus (squint or cross-eyes) to spasmodic torticollis (twisting of the neck with painful muscle spasms).This treatment was first shown to be beneficial for dynamic wrinkles by neurologists and opthalmologists treating these other conditions. Today, inactivation of frown lines has emerged as an exiting new treatment for lessening the visible signs of ageing.

The injections can also be used to compliment the filling of frown lines with either Collagen, Hylaform or Restylane. All possibilities will be discussed during consultation, at which time the best alternatives will be recommended .
